The Backstory…

When writing this album, I revisited a couple of my favorite nursery rhymes: “There Was a Crooked Man” and “There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe”. I just loved their quirkiness and then thought, “What if these two people came together somehow? Could they possibly fall in love?”

And with those musings, "Crooked Little House” was born.

Lyrics

There was a crooked man,

Who walked a crooked mile.

He found a silver dollar,

shining under some leaves in a pile.

He bought a crooked cat,

Whose best friend was a crooked mouse.

And they all lived together

In a crooked little house.

There was a woman who,

Lived in a giant shoe.

She had so many children,

She didn’t know what to do.

She gave them soup, with crusty bread.

Kissed them all, then sent them to bed.

And they all lived together

In a giant leather shoe.

Home sweet Home,

A place we call our own,

Home sweet Home,

Where children play,

Games of hide and seek,

That last all sunny day,

And imaginations run free…

There was crooked man,

Who walked a crooked path,

There was a woman in a shoe, who

On her way home, from shopping for food,

Ran into a man, with funny crooked teeth,

He looked at her, holding a wedge of crooked cheese,

And they fell in love, instantly…

And the woman became the crooked man’s spouse…

He adopted her children, and she his cat and mouse,

Now they all live together,

And how they love one another,

Yes, happily ever after

In a crooked little house.

A crooked little house,

A crooked little house,

So full of love.
