Smile (reprise)
The Backstory…
In the midst of recording this album, my piano player, Rob Rennie, came to me with a ballad version of “Smile”. I was so moved and inspired to explore the somber, even longing emotion one might feel if they couldn’t find one of their own.
In turn, this song became something totally different than its original. It became a message of gentle empathy. My wish is that this song will connect with you and anyone needing understanding and encouragement…or simply, a smile to borrow until you find yours.
Lyrics
The moon was smiling as I snuck into your house through the window sill,
But you never suspected,
I never thought that I’d resort to this,
To steal from you a single kiss,
But with all the world’s madness I’ve got to…
Smile, a while to breathe to exhale,
Smile, a mile wide,
It’s easy to travel,
The beauty will unravel you.
I went out walking no particular reason and noticed something quite unreal,
A feeling quite contagious,
CHORUS
It’s power undeniable,
It’s positively laughable,
A contagious, outrageous, simplistic, fantastic revolution,
It’s such a simple solution…
Just smile…
