Miss Margaret Miller
The Backstory…
My mom was the first powerful woman in my life. She’s naturally quiet, but her tenacity, independence and kindness has been a blessed example. Friends and teammates have also encouraged me to love myself for me, as well.
That’s why I wrote “MMM”. To those girls and women subscribing and/or succumbing to the pressures of being “perfect” (and, I certainly have my moments, too), I wanted to offer this “girl power” kick-in-the-pants reminder to say “F#%K YOU Glamour Magazine!”
Lyrics
Miss Margaret Miller combed her chocolate curls,
Longing her mirror to dream,
Like most mortals she conspired to defy gravity,
With softening potions and cream…
She wore gold, velvet, and lace,
But her beauty lives deep in a magical place,
Far beyond touch and space,
Can you see her there…
Miss Margaret obsessed over each precious morsel,
Eating just three crumbs a day,
On her scale she weighted,
And it became quite apparent,
She was joyfully withering away…
She wore gold, velvet, and lace,
But her beauty lives deep in a magical place,
Far beyond touch and space,
Can you see her?
She came out and played,
In gold, velvet, lace.
And it’s just like a dreamer,
To travel oceans afar,
To search for what you already have,
In your own back yard,
It’s so beautiful…
Toes to the ledge of a bridge Margaret leans,
As she throws overboard,
All her Glamour magazines
Gold, velvet, and lace,
But her beauty lives deep in a magical place,
Far beyond touch and space,
Can you see her?
She came out and played dear,
She saw she was here dear,
In gold, velvet, lace…
