Hope Will Bring You Home

The Backstory…

Home can appear in many ways. When I wrote this song, I had just gotten married and realized for the first time that home was not just a place we lived, it was a feeling of being truly at home with myself.

I also realized that, though I had found the love of my life and my dreams were coming true, tomorrow isn’t always promised and life’s path can be unpredictable.

The only thing I could be certain of was “hope”. When I’m fearful, uncertain, or feeling a little lost, hope is what revives me, inspires me, and ultimately guides me back. . .home.

Film Credits:

“Hope Will Bring You Home” was featured as the end-title credit song on Holiday Baggage (Hallmark Movies) starring Barry Bostwick and Cheryl Ladd.

Lyrics

Two and a half moments ago,

I lost my balance and fell into a rabbit hole,

Tumbling I had no clue of direction,

Through my safety net I did go…

But somehow I just knew,

So I stepped off and flew…

No, I don’t need to understand,

Exactly where this road will go,

It’s the possibility that brings you hope,

And hope will bring you home…again.

Breathing in the blackness I was like,

A canary in a coal man’s mine,

Digging deeper than I had before,

To find me again, to reach my soul.

But I knew I’d be all right,

Inside the dark, I’d see the light…

Chorus

Get up, get over,

And wander beyond the trees,

Into a sea of what could be,

Jump and believe…believe.

And somehow I just know why,

We don’t need wings to fly,

It’s the possibility that brings you hope,

And hope will bring you home again, I know…

Hope will bring you home again…hope will bring you home again,

Hope will bring you home again.
